Beto, a young middle-class man, is the symbol of a doomed society. Together with his gang, he tries to rape Marlene, a beautiful, wealthy woman who is alone by the pool at her home. They end up fleeing, leaving her for dead. Beto is tracked down by the police, but the woman, who had faked her drowning, unexpectedly appears and refuses to press charges. A violent passion is born between the two. But she has a lover, an elderly man. Consumed by jealousy, Beto ends up killing him. From that moment on, life becomes hell for the young man, because she, out of caution, begins putting off their meetings. Until one day he discovers that she actually has another lover, young and very attractive. Beto had been nothing more than a tool in the hands of the two of them. Blinded by resentment and still in love, he decides to take revenge and, armed, breaks into Marlene's house. But life has a tragic and ironic trap in store for him: she is dead, in the water of the pool. The police arrive. And he, with no alibi or explanation, will pay for the crime he actually committed by being accused of another, of which he is innocent.
