The Woman of Desire

1975, fiction, Rio de Janeiro, 87 minutes, 35mm, Color
Available in Full HD (upscale from the original tape)

Upon his death, a wealthy old man leaves his house and other assets to his nephew, who is required to live in the house in order to become its owner and is also forbidden to dismiss the somber butler he and his wife find there. Strange things begin to happen, the old house seems to turn into a living entity, and the young heir gradually and mysteriously takes on the habits of his dead uncle. He even ends up acquiring the physical features of the departed old man, which creates a terrible conflict for his wife, a prisoner of that menacing house and that cruel little world. It is no longer her husband who lives there, but the dead man who has taken possession of him.

The film won Best Film at the Cabo Frio Film Festival.
