Ozualdo Candeias, Photographs
Cinesesc — SP | 2017
The exhibition “Ozualdo Candeias, Photographs” featured a series of portraits of film directors and technicians who worked in Boca do Lixo, a film production hub in the 1970s. These portraits were based on experiments with wide- angle lenses, capturing key figures who shaped the history and effervescence of this place. The exhibition also featured a selection of stills from the film "The Margin" (“A Margem”) considered by the National Film Institute (INC) to be the best of 1967. Alongside his filmmaking, Candeias photographed daily life in Boca do Lixo with Exakta 50mm and Nikon cameras between 1960 and 2000, revealing, in an intimate and spontaneous way, the São Paulo cinema of the time.
