I Have a Dream: The Black Saga of The North - From King to Obama

Afro Brasil Museum | 2010

A parallel event to the exhibition of the same name, curated by Emanoel Araújo and held at the Afro Brasil Museum, the exhibition featured films such as Jean-Luc Godard’s "Sympathy for the Devil" (1968), Agnès Varda’s "Black Panthers" (1968), D. W. Griffith’s "The Birth of a Nation" (1915), and Melvin Van Peebles’s "Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song" (1971), among others, contributing to the understanding of a crucial period in the history of Black civil rights in the United States. Documentaries and fiction films were shown, as well as films that addressed the theme artistically and politically, bringing different perspectives to the project. A video installation by Eugenio Puppo and Ricardo Carioba was also created.
