JEAN-LUC CINEMA GODARD RETROSPECTIVE

Traveling show that presented a comprehensive sample of the works by the French-Swiss film director, Jean-Luc Godard, from his first 1950’s short films, like Operátion Béton (1954) and Une Femme Coquette (1955), through the phase with the Dziga Vertov Group, to his latest films, like Notre Musique (2004), Film Socialisme (2010) and Adieu au Langage (2014). Mostly exhibited in 35 mm copies, the retrospective showed long and short films that were new in Brazil, TV series, advertisements and trailers amounting more than 140 pieces of work. Besides the presentation of films, the event held workshops and open debates. A catalog with articles about Jean-Luc Godard’s filmography, as well as the complete filmography and iconography, was released. It was elected the best Film Festival in 2015 by critics and journalists from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.
